Some people mark the passing of time by winters, months, years… I mark it by paczki day, aka Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, etc.
Staying true to my Michigan roots, I made this favorite treat again this year. A taste of home and tradition is always welcome when living far away… I upped my game this year and made all of my own fillings: raspberry (made from a carton I bought from an old woman this summer, vanilla custard, and Nutella custard. A little messier looking, but tastier overall! Maybe next year I’ll get even more ambitious and glaze them (my favorite!) instead of using powdered sugar!
